Design difficulties of horizontal turning conveyor

(1) The existing design theory describes the turning conveyor as a flexible system. Under the action of friction, conveyor belt tension, and gravity, the curvature radius is a variable. In engineering, the method of maximizing the turning radius is adopted to reduce this effect. If you want to minimize the turning radius, more detailed theoretical calculations are needed. First, you have the curvature radius function, and then take its larger value, but the calculation is quite cumbersome.


(2) The conveyor belt at the turning point is not composed of broken lines due to its grooving effect, but rather a curve between the broken lines and arcs, which still has errors in force analysis.


(3) The conveyor belt at the turning point is generally in the shape of a groove. The conveyor belt is non flexible and not composed of three longitudinally arranged plate machines. It is a whole, and the groove shape also needs to be considered.


(4) In terms of force analysis:

① The forward tilt of the roller forms the installation support angle, and the calculation of centrifugal friction force has theoretical problems. It is not that the smaller the installation support angle (but not equal to zero), the greater the centrifugal friction force. Centrifugal friction is also related to other factors, such as the friction coefficient between the conveyor belt and the idler roller.


② It is incorrect to express the force analysis on the three rollers solely using the distribution coefficient.


③ The materials transported are randomly arranged and have not been studied in detail in bending theory analysis, but they are indeed indispensable in engineering.


④ The power effect at the turning point is not well considered, and the power effect caused by factors such as the forward tilt of the rollers and the increase in the groove angle of the side rollers has not been studied.


(5) Stability analysis was not conducted during the turning of the belt conveyor, nor was stability analysis conducted during the lateral operation of the conveyor belt.
